• The classification of antenna by frequency of operation is the most convenient way.
Although, there are no hard and fast rules for determining the choice of an antenna for a particular frequency but many factors such as electrical structural, installation space, are to be taken into account.

    VLF and LF Transmitting Antennas:
Antennas which are operating in the frequency range of 10 KHz to 30 KHz and 30 KHz to 300 KHz respectively are called VLF and LF Transmitting Antennas.

    Medium Frequency Antenna:
Antennas which are operating between 300 KHz to 3000 KHz and these antennas are used for natural broadcasting are called Medium frequency antennas.

    High frequency antennas:
Antennas which are Operating between frequency range of 3MHz to 30 MHz.

    VHF, UHF and SHF Antennas:
Antennas are those which are Operating between the frequency range of 30 to 300 MHz, 300 to 3000 MHz and 3000 to 30,000 MHz respectiveiy.
